Arbitration.Inc is a neutral, API-driven arbitration forum where hospitals resolve low-balance commercial payer disputes for a fraction of what an appeal or lawsuit costs. Business to business only: hospital versus insurer, never hospital versus patient.
The problem
Every health system carries thousands of commercial claims a year (underpayments, downcodes, line-item audits, “silent denials”) where the amount in controversy is $400 to a few thousand dollars. At that size, a second-level appeal or outside counsel costs more than the claim, so the balance is adjusted off as bad debt.
What Arbitration.Inc is, and isn't
We are not a denials-management, appeals or collections vendor. We are the forum: a document-only arbitration platform that issues a written award on each claim. Your revenue-cycle team, or the vendors it already uses, file the cases. Our AI decides each case on the record under our published Rules, and either side can add Human Review ($199), where a human arbitrator decides. The side that adds Human Review pays for it.
A dispute-resolution clause added to the managed-care agreement at renewal, so disputes up to $10,000 go to Arbitration.Inc. It covers the whole book from then on.
A standalone agreement with one payer to arbitrate an existing schedule of aged, disputed claims. No change to the underlying contract. The fastest way to prove the economics on real inventory.
A 14-day response window and a written decision remove the reason to wait you out.
At volume pricing, a thousand $600 underpayments cost about $10,000 to pursue in total, not $10,000 each.
Each case ends in a reasoned, written award, and a party can ask a court of competent jurisdiction to confirm it.
Data
Claim files contain patient health information, so we sign a business associate agreement (BAA) with each hospital before any files are shared. Integration is by API; online upload is available for pilots.
What we propose
A 20-minute walkthrough with your revenue-cycle or managed-care lead, then a one-payer backlog pilot on a schedule of claims you have already reserved against.
